Question: What are the ways and channels we use to discern the will of God or know the voice of God?
Answer:
Understanding how God communicates with us is crucial for discerning His will. God speaks to His people through the languages of the Holy Spirit as we will soon see:
1. Dreams: God often speaks to us through dreams, conveying messages and instructions, as prophesied in Joel 2:28.
2. Visions: Similarly, visions provide visual encounters through which God communicates His divine will and instructions, as described in Matthew 13:10 and elaborated in verses 16–17.
3. Prophecies: Throughout history, God has inspired individuals to speak His mind, delivering prophetic messages and insights, as seen in Acts 2:17.
4. Inspired Messages: In John 16:13, Jesus speaks of the Holy Spirit guiding believers into all truth. This includes moments when individuals are prompted to speak or write messages filled with divine wisdom and direction.
These forms of communication are not limited to the physical senses alone but encompass a spiritual awareness that surpasses the ordinary:
Acts 22:14-15
"And he said, ‘The God of our fathers has chosen you, that you might know his will, and see that Just One, and hear the voice of his mouth. For you will be his witness to all men of what you have seen and heard."
This scripture highlights the senses of communication: seeing eyes, hearing ears, and an understanding heart .
- Seeing (eyes): Visual experiences, such as dreams and visions, offer tangible glimpses into the supernatural realm.
-Hearing (ears): Audible promptings from God resonate within the hearts and minds of believers, guiding them along the path of righteousness.
-Understanding (heart): Through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, believers gain insights and comprehension that surpass human understanding, allowing them to discern God's will with clarity and conviction.
