Matthew 6:10
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
So far, we've been looking at the kingdom of God and what it entails. We now want to look at the components of the kingdom; the characteristics of the kingdom of God.
One critical component of the kingdom of God is the "will of God." We've defined the kingdom of God as God's government within a territory, where God is King. But for the kingdom of God to reign, the will of God must be known and followed.
Jesus taught His disciples to pray that the kingdom come and that the will of God be done on earth as in heaven. God has a will and He wants this will be carried out here on earth even as it's done in heaven. This will is carried out by His children.
To fulfil this prayer on God's will be done, this is why Jesus would call people to Himself and teach them what the will of God is. Jesus is the perfect example of someone who does God's will. For His meat is to do the will of His Father. John 4:34.
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
In the kingdom of God, there's the "good", "acceptable", and "perfect" will of God. All that God wants from us is to do His perfect will. There are times that He allows us do some things, however, His ultimate plan is that we do the exact thing He wants us to do.
In the grand scheme of God's will is His will for our individual selves. God has a personal will for you. God, being a person with a will, desires something specific for each life and destiny.
Understanding God's will is crucial to our living here on earth. To please God and to build a meaningful relationship with Him, knowing the mind of God is essential.
In the Kingdom of God, the sole objective is to fulfill the will of God. Pleasing God and walking in the pathway of destiny require aligning with His specific plans. In the Kingdom of God, doing the will of God alone is paramount.
As a child of God you have to live with the purpose of fulfilling God's will, not just doing what seems good in your own eyes. What may seem right in our own eyes may be wrong in the eyes of God. This is why we need to know and walk in the will of God.
In the next article, you'd know more about walking in the will of God.
