You are a Spirit as a wind

Here's a recap of the significant identities we have touched on in the past few classes:

  1. Our identities as sons of God. Psalm 82:6
  2. Our identities as God's dwelling places. Hebrews 10:5-7
  3. Our identities as TV boxes being watched. Hebrews 12:1-2

So, tonight, we're exploring the next identity:

YOU ARE A SPIRIT AND A WIND.

(John 3:1-8)

Focus: Verse 6 and 8

John 1:11-13.

  • You as a spirit

Take heed of your spirit, because your spirit is who you are. If you are born of the Spirit, you are spirit.

The spirit always responds to the Spirit because that's the One who gave birth to it (your spirit). Luke 4:19

Your spirit must always pay attention to what the Spirit is doing.

The real you is your spirit, housed in a tent of clay. That's why you cannot afford to feed yourself just with physical food. Your spirit-man must grow where it matters. Hence, you need to build your spirit. Luke 2:40

NOTE: Mind the tenses used in scripture; they have significant meanings.

  • You as a wind

John 3:8

“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but cannot tell from where it comes and where it goes. So *is* everyone who is born of the Spirit”._

The ways of the wind are not predictable. People must not see you finish. Scripture says, "Be wise as a serpent." You must be discreet. You must know how to not talk everything out. Those who are born of the Spirit are seemingly unpredictable. It does not necessarily mean they are irresponsible.

Jesus had this edge, and many-a-times, the religious people of His days didn't understand Him because He took out religiousity from amongst them. For instance, in taking the church to the streets. Ezekiel 36:26-27

Note: Pay attention to your spirit. Every time God wants to manifest, He comes through your spirit. Whatever the Holy Spirit is saying to you, that is what you should do.

Scriptures to examine:

Romans 8:4–9, 1 Corinthians 6:17, 2 Corinthians 5:17 Galatians 5:16–21, Galatians 5:1-4, Ephesians 2:3

These scriptures show us the way to go. If there's anything anyone should be desiring now, it should be the outpouring of God's Spirit.

Blessings.
