The Call of God

Where are you?

The very first time God called man in the Bible, it was to the first man (Adam) in

Genesis 3:9”Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, where are you?”

Although the first Adam was put in a specific geographic location codified in this description ‘a garden planted eastward in Eden.’
(Genesis 2:8).

It is crystal clear that where a man is in the Spirit is of a greater importance to God than his physical address or location .Why? Jesus our Lord said it,”GOD is Spirit.” (John 4:24). God made us in His image.

(Genesis 1:26, 2:7,8) and blessed us with the favour of His Presence (the Holy Spirit).

The Lord Jesus said “He who is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:5).

Since the first man (Adam) was born of God as in Luke 3:38.

It implies Adam was a spirit being, with a soul, who lives in a physical body

His essence before the Father is plainly and purely spiritual, with a physical expression.

The substance of our lives takes root from the Spirit and only in the Spirit (our spirit) can we capture or see and know(experience) it. -  John 6:63,4:24,5:29,20,30.

Again it can be observed,  that the Lord puts the first man (Adam) in His presence, and it is still His desire for each man on earth to always be in His presence.

The Lord Jesus vividly illustrated this to His disciples when He said ‘’and if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that WHERE I am, you can be there also.”

Note the word ”where I am”. The ‘I AM’ was in a place where his disciples were not.

  • How about us?
  • Where are we?
  • Where am I?
  • Where are you?

The Lord Jesus made this abundantly clear all throughout His ministry or earthly life service that He was in the presence of God (in Heaven) John 3:13,7:34,8:14,29 and 12:36.

Jesus repeatedly showed us He was in the presence of God (Heaven).

The place God wants us to be is His presence. It is in relation to this subject God called the first man. That is why in the value chain of God's call upon a man, the Lord is asking, “where are you?

However, in relation to this matter of God's presence as a place,

  • Adam lost it (Genesis 3:8),
  • Cain left it (Genesis 4:16),
  • Jonah fled from it (Jonah 1:3).

Where are you today?

What physical garden do you occupy at the moment?

Is it a family, a job,a school,a church, a mosque, an association, a shrine, a cult, a government, an estate,a business empire,a place or position of influence? Wherever you may be right now and whatever you may be doing there is of no importance to God,as much as you being in His presence under the watchful, loving care (influence) of His reign and dominion.

Don’t think you have a garden (geographic space or place) as your own where you occupy or are the one in charge. Whatever you may consider your own; both in space (position) and place,  will soon be lost if you are not in the presence of God. Ask Adam. We have no preoccupation or occupation if we are not in His presence.

Are you a minister of the gospel who has lost touch with the presence of God but still busy doing God's work, the Lord is asking, “where are you?”

Why is being in God’s presence of great significance to him?

It is because our essence was made in His image and for Him (Genesis 1:26,28, Psalm 100:3,139:7-14). His presence is our location, our address, and dwelling place. Psalm 90:1;91:1).

In summary, Jesus came to the earth, lived, died, was buried, rose from the dead, ascended to Heaven, and now makes intercession for the saints,at the right hand of the Father to give us access back to God’s presence and an unbroken fellowship with Him there.

His Call to humanity today is for each one of us to be with Him.(Mark 3:14-15), so that where he is we can be also. (John 14:3).

Note:
In this season of the coronavirus pandemic in the world, God loves us all and is calling out to us all. Yes, all of humanity. (John 3:16, 3:36). The love of the Father is constant and He is still calling out to each one of us. We will do well to respond to the love of the Father in repentance from dead works, in faith and total submission to the Lordship of Christ and true worship of God the Father in spirit and truth.

It will get darker in the world, as the floods are here, but the Lord will arise over the saints and His glory over the sons of God..

The plague is dead and the families of the earth saved and set free in Jesus name.

This is just the beginning.

God loves us. He himself is our Life in Christ Jesus.

Shalom.
